OCHA: 2.3 Million People in Afghanistan Received Aid in First Three Months of 2026
Tawazon – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says that cash and voucher aid was distributed to millions of people across Afghanistan during the first three months of this year.
In a report released on Thursday, June 4, OCHA said that its humanitarian partners provided $20.3 million in cash and voucher assistance to 2.3 million people across the country between January and March 2026.
According to the report, this aid was delivered to address the urgent needs of vulnerable families in crises.
OCHA emphasized that cash assistance allows families to meet their most urgent needs with dignity.
This assistance comes at a time when a large portion of Afghanistan’s population urgently needs humanitarian support due to recent crises, including poverty, hunger, unemployment, and declining international assistance.
Earlier, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that nearly 3.7 million children under the age of five in Afghanistan are expected to suffer from malnutrition in 2026.
