Canada Reviews Human Rights Situation in Afghanistan
Tawazon – Canada’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations says it has hosted a meeting at the UN headquarters in New York to discuss the political, economic, humanitarian and human rights situation in Afghanistan.
According to a statement from the mission, the meeting was attended by Afghanistan’s acting representative to the United Nations, representatives of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan(UNAMA), and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The Canadian mission did not provide further details about the discussions, but said participants reviewed Afghanistan’s current situation from political, economic, humanitarian and humanrights perspectives.
Canada had previously hosted a similar meeting at the United Nations headquarters in November 2025.
That meeting was attended by several Afghan human rights activists, Richard Bennett and Nasir Ahmad Faiq.
Canada reaffirmed its support for people of Afghanistan, particularly women and girls.
