Pakistan Accuses Afghan Taliban of Unwarranted Aggression
Tawazon – Pakistan has accused the Afghan Taliban of launching “unwarranted aggression” along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border during the night of 11–12 October 2025, warning that such unprovoked actions aimed at destabilising the Pak-Afghan border belie the overall spirit of peaceful neighbourhood and cooperative relations between the two brotherly countries.
In an official statement, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed “deep concern” over border clashes along multiple border points. Islamabad said its military forces, exercising their legitimate right to self-defense, effectively repelled the assaults and inflicted heavy casualties on Taliban fighters and their allied groups. The statement added:”these infrastructures were used to plan and facilitate terrorist attacks against Pakistan”.
According to the statement, Pakistan remains committed to dialogue, diplomacy, and mutually beneficial relations with Afghanistan, but warned that any “further provocations or aggression” would be met with a “firm and proportionate response.”
The Foreign Ministry of Pakistan also rejected recent remarks made in India by the Taliban’s acting foreign minister, calling them “baseless and misleading.” The statement said such comments cannot divert international attention from the continued presence nd free movement of terrorist groups inside Afghanistan. It added that the “ongoing presence of terrorist organizations on Afghan soil” has been well-documented in reports by the UN Monitoring Team.
The statement further noted that “the fight against terrorism is a shared responsibility,” and urged the Taliban authorities to fulfill their international commitments to prevent Afghan territory from being used for terrorism against other countries. Islamabad once again called on the Taliban to take “concrete, effective, and verifiable action” against what it described as “Fitna-e-Khawarij” and “Fitna-e-Hindustan” groups that Pakistan claims are operating from Afghan soil.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry also highlighted that Pakistan has hosted around four million Afghan citizens for over four decades, and stated that from now on, the Pakistani government will regulate the presence of Afghan nationals in accordance with international laws and norms.
The statement concluded by saying that Pakistan seeks “a peaceful, stable, friendly, inclusive, regionally connected, and prosperous Afghanistan”, and expects the Taliban t “act responsibly, honor their commitments, and play a constructive role in eliminating terrorism from Afghan soil.”
Pakistan also expressed hope that “one day, the people of Afghanistan will be free and governed by a real, representative government.”
The Taliban have not yet responded to Pakistan’s statement.
