FAO: Afghan Women Key to Food Security and Stronger Communities
Tawazon – The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has emphasized the crucial role of women in feeding families and building stronger communities in Afghanistan.
In a recent statement, FAO said: “Women grow the food that sustains our future.” The organization is working across Afghanistan to enhance women’s agricultural and food management skills, aiming to ensure families have access to sufficient, nutritious food and to strengthen local communities.
FAO’s programs include training in sustainable agriculture, water resource management, and healthy nutrition, aimed at improving food security and the quality of life for Afghan families.
On the occasion of World Food Day, marked globally each year on October 16, FAO highlighted that investing in women’s empowerment not only boosts food security but also paves th way for sustainable development and resilient societies.
World Food Day is commemorated annually to raise global awareness about food security, promote healthy diets, and advocate for action to end hunger.
