World Health Day: WHO Launches “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures” Campaign
Tawazon– On the occasion of World Health Day, observed annually on April 7, the World Health Organization (WHO) has launched a year-long global campaign focused on improving maternal and newborn health.
Titled “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” the campaign calls on governments and healthcare communities to accelerate efforts to end preventable maternal and newborn deaths and to prioritize the long-term health and well-being of women.
According to WHO, women and families everywhere need access to high-quality care that supports them both physically and emotionally before, during, and after childbirth.
The organization further highlights that healthcare systems must be strengthened to manage the wide range of conditions affecting maternal and newborn health. These include not only direct complications during childbirth but also mental health issues, non-communicable diseases, and family planning needs.
WHO is urging a global commitment to ensure that every child has a safe and healthy start in life, and that women receive the care and dignity they deserve throughout their maternal journey.
