UNICEF distributes vital aid to over 1,400 flood survivors
The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has taken swift action in Afghanistan, providing essential support to over 1,400 individuals affected by floods in the northern regions.
On May 19, UNICEF announced via the X platform its distribution plans, which include cash, tents, clothing, and medical supplies to further assist flood victims.
The health kits distributed by UNICEF contain crucial items for household use, including soap, aiming to address immediate health needs.
Earlier reports from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) indicated that the floods in Baghlan province alone have impacted 60,000 individuals, with a tragic death toll of 182.
Moreover, the United Nations Women’s Department (UN Women) highlighted the disproportionate impact on women and children in the recent floods across Afghanistan.
Notably, the devastating floods, particularly in Baghlan, have claimed over 310 lives and inflicted significant financial hardships on the affected communities.
