Istanbul Meeting on Afghanistan Highlights Support for Vulnerable Groups

Tawazon – The United Nations says a meeting of the Afghanistan Coordination Group was held in Istanbul, with a focus on supporting vulnerable people.

In a post on X on Thursday April 30, the UN said the meeting took place earlier this week.

According to the organization, participants once again stressed the need to continue supporting the people of Afghanistan.

Special attention was given to vulnerable groups, including women and returning migrants

The meeting comes as the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan is still described as concerning.

UN data show that around 17 million people in Afghanistan need urgent assistance and nearly 40 per cent of the population is facing hunger.

The Istanbul meeting highlighted the importance of continued international support, as the humanitrian crisis in Afghanistan remains severe.
