Richard Lindsay Urged Taliban Officials to Reduce Tensions with Pakistan
Tawaon – Richard Lindsay, the UK’s Special Representative for Afghanistan says he called on Taliban officials in Kabul to reduce tensions with Pakistan during his recent visit.
In a post on X at the end of his trip, he also said he urged the Taliban to allow girls to return to school and to let women work.
He added that he witnessed the “vital work” of local media and reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s support for Afghanistan’s civil society
During his visit he met with Amir Khan Muttaqi, Abdul Ghani Baradar and Abdul Wasi.
In his meeting with Lindsay, Abdul Wasi said that if Pakistan takes one step toward ending the conflict, the Taliban would take two.
Clashes between the Taliban and Pakistan have continued for more than two months. Despite mediation efforts by several countris, no full agreement has been reached so far.
