Human Rights Activists Warn Over Closure of Afghan Diplomatic Missions
Tawazon – The Alliance of Human Rights Activists has expressed concern over the closure of Afghan diplomatic missions abroad.
In a statement issued on Friday, May 1, the group said the possible closure of the Afghan embassy in Australia is particularly worrying.
It warned that shutting down these missions could limit people’s access to basic consular services and may have serious humanitarian ,and political consequences.
The organization said such developments could weaken the voice of Afghan citizens and strengthen narratives promoted by the Taliban.
It added that Afghan diplomatic missions currently play an important support role for women, civil society activists and migrants.
The group also called on host countries to consider the human impact when making decision about closing Afghan diplomatic offices.
