Malala Yousafzai: The World’s Silence on Afghan Women Is a Betrayal
Tawazon – Human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai has criticized the international community for remaining silent about the situation of women in Afghanistan under Taliban rule. In an interview with Spiegel News, Malala said that Afghan women continue to live in fear, facing severe restrictions and being deprived of their most basic rights.
Malala also criticized world leaders for their indifference toward the plight of Afghan women, urging them to take serious and effective action in support of women’s rights. She stated, “continued silence and the normalization of relations with the Taliban is, in fact, a betrayal of the next generation of Afghan women.”The world cannot stop at symbolic photos and empty words, real action is needed.”
Malala also spoke about her new initiative with her husband, Recess Capital, which aims to create more opportunities for women and girls in sports, both amateur and professional. She emphasized the importance of equal access and increasing women’s participation in various areas of society, stressing that global support for Afghan women must be practical and tangible, not just slogans and statements.
With these remarks, Malala once again drew global attention to the ongoing crisis of women’s rights in Afghanistan, calling on world leaders to actively defend the human rights of Afghan women through meaningful action.
