Taliban Official Meets with Hindu and Sikh Council Members

Monday 03 March 2025

Kabul – The Chief of Staff of the Taliban’s Prime Minister’s Office met with members of Afghanistan’s Hindu and Sikh Council to discuss their concerns and proposals.

According to a statement on the X page of Hamdullah Fitrat, Deputy Spokesperson of the Taliban, the meeting took place on March 2 at the Arg (Presidential Palace), where Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi engaged with representatives of the Hindu and Sikh communities.

During the meeting, council members presented their key concerns, including the representation of Hindus and Sikhs, the return of seized lands, the reconstruction of religious sites, the completion of unfinished projects, and electricity-related issues. They urged the authorities to address these matters.

Manjit Singh Lamba, representing the Hindu and Sikh communities, raised the issue of establishing a commercial market in District 1 of Jalalabad city. He also submitted a formal petition on behalf of the council to seek a resolution.

In response, Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi assured the council members that their proposals would be taken into consideration and conveyed to the relevant authorities for further action.
