Turkish Airlines resumes Kabul flights after three years
The Taliban’s Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has announced the resumption of Turkish Airlines flights to Afghanistan, marking the end of a three-year suspension.
The official ceremony, attended by Sediqullah Abed, Deputy Minister of Finance and Administration, and Cenk Ünal, Chargé d’Affaires and Head of Mission in Afghanistan, took place on Tuesday, May 11, at Kabul airport.
Turkish Airlines will now operate four weekly flights between Kabul and Istanbul, facilitating easier travel for passengers.
Ministry’s officials emphasize the airline’s return is crucial for enhancing transit and commercial ties between Turkey and Afghanistan.
Turkish Airlines halted its flights to Afghanistan following the Taliban’s assumption of power in August 2021.
