Explosion in Iran: Hamid Karzai Expresses Condolences to Victims’ Families
Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai has expressed sorrow over the explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas, Iran. In a message shared on Sunday, he conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims.
In a post on the social platform X, Karzai wrote: “I strongly condemn the terrorist attack on civilians in Jammu and Kashmir, India. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the people of India, and its government.”
According to a report by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the explosion at Rajaei Port resulted in 25 deaths, around 800 injuries, and six missing persons. Live footage from the scene shows that firefighting operations to contain the blaze are still ongoing.
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban’s caretaker government had also described the explosion as a “tragic incident” and expressed condolences and solidarity with the families of the victims, the people of Iran, and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Following the incident, Iran has declared three days of national mourning.
