Iran, Bandar Abbas: Explosion Kills 45 and Injures Over 500
Tawazon – An explosion at an oil storage facility in Bandar Abbas, Iran, has left four people dead and more than 500 others injured.
According to Iranian media reports, the explosion occurred at Shahid Rajaee Port. However, no specific details have been provided yet regarding the cause of the blast.
Iranian officials stated that the explosion triggered a large fire in the area, leading to a complete halt in port operations.
Earlier, authorities had clarified that the explosion and the subsequent fire were not connected to the port’s refineries, fuel storage facilities, or oil pipelines.
It is worth noting that in 2020, the same port’s computer systems were damaged in a cyberattack that disrupted the movement of goods and vessels.
At the time, The Washington Post had reported that Israel was suspected of carrying out the cyberattack in retaliation for an earlier Iranian cyber operation.
