US Aid Suspension: Several Health Centers in Khost to Shut Down
Tawazun, Khost: Sources report that several health centers in Khost, which provided medical services to the public with financial support from international organizations, are now ceasing their operations due to a lack of budget.
A source told Tawazun on Saturday, January 31, that these health centers received emails from their supporting organizations stating that they no longer have the budget and will be shut down.
The source added that many of these health centers are located in the districts and villages of Khost, primarily serving women and children, and focusing on maternal and child health.
According to the source, these health centers provided medical services in areas such as Metun, the central city of Khost, as well as Ismailkhel, Mandozai, Tani, Gurbuz, Lakan, Alisher, Zani Khel, Nadir Shah Kot, and several other districts of the province.
The information indicates that thousands of residents of Khost received treatment at these health centers with the financial support of international organizations. If these clinics are now closed, they will be deprived of these services.
Additionally, the closure of these health centers will leave hundreds of employees, especially women, jobless and unable to earn a living for their families.
Notably, US President, Donald Trump, upon taking office, suspended financial aid to all international organizations and countries, including the World Health Organization. According to the information, the US was the largest contributor to the World Health Organization’s budget and has now suspended this aid.
