Passport office prioritizes Afghan expatriates
The General Directorate of Passport, under control of Taliban, has declared its intent to prioritize passport applications from Afghans residing abroad.
Through its official X platform, the directorate stated, “Applicants holding visas or residency permits from countries other than Iran and Pakistan will receive precedence in the passport issuance process.”
This directive allows passport applicants to expedite their passport acquisition without prolonged delays by completing the online process.
The Passport Directorate’s rationale behind this decision is to ensure that Afghans receive their passports before the expiration of their residency permits or visas in foreign nations.
This announcement comes amid a backlog of passport applications, with many applicants experiencing wait times of nearly a year.
