UN Women: Supporting Afghan Women Entrepreneurs Strengthens Families and Communities
Tawazon – UN Women Afghanistan has highlighted the vital role of women led businesses in building stronger families and communities, following a recent meeting in Kabul organized in collaboration with ACTED.
According to UN Women, the discussion focused on ways to support small and medium sized enterprises led by Afghan women, including initiativ to improve skills development, expand access to microfinance and strengthen market linkages.
“Empowering women entrepreneurs not only creates sustainable livelihoods for their families, but also drives community resilience”, UN Women said in a post on X. The agency emphasized that greater opportunities for women in business can pave the way for inclusive economic growth and a stronger presence of Afghan women in both domestic and global markets.
UN Women, established in 2010, works in more than 90 countries to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment. In Afghanistan, the agency continues to support women’s rights,promote their participation in social and economic life and combat gender-based violence in collaboration with civil society and international partners.
