1,673 Days of Denial; Global Agencies Renew Warnings Over Afghan Girls’ Education Ban
Tawazon – On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the Education Cannot Wait (ECW) fund announced on its official X account that the world has reached a tragic milestone in human rights history, 1,673 days have passed since the Taliban banned secondary education for girls in Afghanistan.
The UN-affiliated agency highlighted the Taliban’s ongoing policy that continues to deprive millions of Afghan girls of their right to education, once again urging the international community not to remain silent about their basic rights.
According to ECW, the #AfghanGirlsVoices campaign continues to amplify the stories and testimonies of Afghan girls, accounts of unfulfilled dreams, silenced hopes, and quiet resistance against erasure.
The organization reiterated that education is a basic human right, and the systematic denial of girls from school constitute a clear violation of human rights and international conventions.
