5.6 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Eastern Afghanistan Again
Tawazon – Another earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan tonight, around 9:30 PM, impacting the provinces of Kunar, Nangarhar, Laghman, Nuristan, Kabul, and Khost.
In Kunar, local sources told Tawazon that the quake struk multiple districts, including the Mazardara area of Nurgal district. Residents described the tremor as strong and frightening, though information about casualties or damage is not yet available.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed the earthquake measured 5.6 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter 13 kilometers from Jalalabad city in Nangarhar province. The quake strukck at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers.
This marks the latest in a series of earthquakes that have rattled Afghanistan in recent days, particularly in Kunar province, leavin local communities anxious amid recurring tremors.
