Drone and Mortar Attacks in North Waziristan: Women and Children Among the Injured
Local sources report that on Friday, May 16, several civilians were injured and numerous homes damaged following drone and mortar attacks allegedly carried out by the Pakistani military in different areas of North Waziristan.
According to reports, the first incident occurred in Epi village, where locals claim that security forces targeted civilian homes with mortar shells. Several people, including women and children, were injured, and multiple homes were destroyed or severely damaged.
The second incident reportedly took place in the Darazinda area, where a drone strike hit a civilian residence. Local sources state that at least nine individuals were wounded, including women and children.
Residents have expressed deep concern, stating that the recent attacks have made even their homes unsafe, stating that such operations not only test the patience of local communities but also risk triggering a wider humanitarian crisis.
These incidents come amid a broader pattern of drone strikes and mortar shelling in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which have resulted in repeated civilian casualties and destruction.
