Russian Foreign Ministry: Zelensky Bit the Hand That Fed Him
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following his contentious meeting at the White House with U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance. The ministry accused Zelensky of distorting reality and exhibiting ungrateful behavior toward his allies.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova condemned Zelensky’s assertion that Ukraine was left without support in 2022, labeling it his “biggest lie of all his lies.” In a statement, she stated, “How Trump and Vance held back from hitting that scumbag is a miracle of restraint,” adding that Zelensky was “biting the hand that feeds him.”
Zakharova further described Zelensky as “unpleasant with everyone,” reinforcing Russia’s narrative that Ukraine’s leadership has alienated even its closest allies.
The controversy emerged after a heated exchange between U.S. leaders and Zelensky at the White House, where discussions focused on ending the war in Ukraine. The meeting, intended to finalize a deal granting the U.S. a stake in Ukraine’s rare earth elements, turned contentious. Zelensky, contradicting Trump on the subject of a ceasefire, led to frustration and disbelief from Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S., Oksana Markarova, captured by press cameras.
The incident has drawn significant attention, with various international leaders and political figures reacting. Some support Trump’s firm stance, while others criticize the approach as detrimental to the unity and democratic values shared by the U.S. and its allies.
