Pakistan Orders Citizens to Cancel Rental Contracts with Afghan Refugees
Tawazon – Pakistan has intensified pressure on Afghan refugees amid rising border tensions with the Taliban. The government has now ordered property owners across the country to cancel all rental agreements with Afghan nationals, a move expected to leave thousands of Afghan families homeless.
According to an official directive obtained by Tawazon, issued on Wednesday, October 15, calls on owners of houses, shops and commercial buildings to immediately end contracts with Afghans. The document warns that anyone who fails to comply will face legal consequences.
The order cites security concerns and urges Pakistani citizens to cooperate with state institutions in enforcing the directive. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with authorities in implementing the order.
This latest move comes as Pakistan prepares for the mass expulsion of all Afghan refugees, following a series of deadly clashes along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border in recent weeks.
For the past two months, Pakistan has suspended visa extensions for Afghans and stepped up nationwide crackdowns. Every day,hundreds t thousands of Afghan refugees are being forcibly deported through border crossings, often without proper legal process.
