Cleanup and Restoration of Sikhs Holy Site in Punjab, Pakistan After Floods

Tawazon – Following the devastating floods in Punjab, Pakistan, efforts to restore normalcy have intensified, and it has been reported that the government’s work to bring the situation back to normal at the “Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur”, a major Sikhs holy place in the country, is ongoing. Members of the Sikhs community in the province have expressed gratitude for these efforts.

Under the directive of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab, large-scale operations were launched in Kartarpur to drain the floodwaters that had inundated the courtyards of the place.

A team has been deployed to carry out the cleanup at the Sikhs site place, and the site is expected to be restored within the next three to four days.

General Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Army Chief, visited the flood-affected Sikhs community as well as several flooded areas—including Sialkot Sector, Shakargarh, Narowal, and Kartarpur—where he praised both the military and civilian institutions for their rescue and relief efforts.

Meanwhile, in the wake of the recent floods in Punjab, 15 people have lost their lives in different parts of the province and more than 600,000 have been affected. Local officials reported that hundreds of villages have been submerged, while large-scale rescue and relief operations continue.
