Sahraa Karimi Starts Screenwriting Training for Afghan Girls
Sahraa Karimi, the former head of “Afghan Film” under the previous government, is offering online training in screenplay writing for girls who are unable to access education in Kabul province.
On her X account, Karimi stated that she has been providing instruction in screenplay writing to Afghan girls for nearly two years. Additionally, she emphasizes the importance of fostering a culture of reading in these classes.
Karimi remarked, “In addition to teaching screenplay writing, I provide the girls with access to numerous books to enhance their reading skills. It’s not solely me who assumes the role of educator; rather, it’s these remarkable girls who teach me about resilience, patience, and steadfastness.”
This acclaimed Afghan filmmaker expresses satisfaction in noting the strength of the girls in her country under various circumstances, and pledges her support to them.
Sahra Karimi, a prominent figure in Afghan cinema, holds the distinction of being the first woman appointed as the head of “Afghan Film,” the sole state-owned film institution in Afghanistan, during the previous government.
