UN Women: Stronger Global Support for Afghan Women Is Needed
Tawazon – On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, UN Women has called for renewed global solidarity and stronger support for women and girls in Afghanistan.
In a message posted on X on Tuesday, November 25, the organization stressed that protecting the rights of Afghan women and girls remains essential and requires coordinated international action.
UN Women also highlighted several key priorities including securing flexible funding for gender-based violence (GBV) services, supporting women-led organizations, ensuring safe and inclusive digital access for women and promoting community-driven solutions to protect those at risk.
The organization urged the global community to stand with Afghan women and girls “today and every day,” noting that sustained action is necessary as Afghan women continue to face sevre restrictions, exclusion and systematic discrimination under Taliban rule.
