Afghan Woman and Three Children Found Murdered in Southern Tehran
An Afghan woman and her three young children were found murdered in a home in southern Tehran, Iranian media reported Saturday, describing the case as a “horrific crime” that has baffled investigators.
The bodies were discovered in the Morteza Gerd district after a neighbor contacted police on Friday evening, concerned about a foul odor and the family’s unexplained absence.
According to local reports, officers arrived at the residence and found the bodies of the children — ages 2, 3, and 5 — in the living room. The body of their 25-year-old mother, who had been stabbed to death, was found in the bedroom. The children were reportedly killed by suffocation.
The woman had been living with her 70-year-old husband, Iranian authorities said. He had returned to Afghanistan some time before the killings, but it remains unclear whether he was deported or left voluntarily.
Police said the investigation is ongoing as they work to identify the suspect or suspects responsible for what they called a “complex and disturbing case.”
No arrests have been made as of Saturday.
