Translated By Rafiullah Anwari
Tawazon, Islamabad -An Afghan refugee named Shir took his own life by hanging himself on night (3, February) in the guesthouse where he stayed in the Peshawarmor area in Islamabad, capital of Pakistan.
Sources said to Tawazon, Shir was an applicant for Canada’s resettlement program and had been waiting for months for his visa. However, the prolonged uncertainty and lack of response from Canadian government left him in a state of anxiety and despair.
According a source, he was also struggling with financial difficulties and an uncertain future.
،This comes as his family had previously migrated to Canada, leaving him behind in Pakistan without support or hope.
Human rights activists stress that prolonged delays in immigration processes put refugees’ lives at challenges. They have urged the governments of the U.S. and Canada to take immediate action to expedite the processing of immigration cases.
