Qatar RCS plans construction of a health center in Kandahar
According to the Taliban-run Bakhtar news agency, Qatar is undertaking the construction of a health center in Kandahar’s Dand district.
The center, situated in Karz village of Dand district, is projected to cost $234,000, with construction expected to span six months.
The Qatar Red Crescent Society (RCS) ceremonially laid the foundation stone for this project on Tuesday.
Simultaneously, Abdul Latif Sabit, Deputy Secretary General of the Afghan RCS, convened a meeting in Kandahar with representatives from Qatar Red Crescent, including Mohammad Saleh Ebrahim and Ahmed Articiall-Oemani.
As per Bakhtar agency’s report, Ebrahim has additionally pledged to construct another health center in Kandahar’s third district.
Qatar and the Taliban share a lengthy history of relations and collaboration, with Qatar among the nations maintaining positive ties with the Taliban. Notably, the Taliban’s political office remains active in Qatar.
