Pashto poet Ezatullah Zawab freed from Taliban custody
Ezatullah Zawab, a prominent Pashto poet and founder of “Meena” magazine in eastern Afghanistan, has been released after nearly three months of Taliban detention, reuniting with his family.
His sons announced his release through a Facebook post, sharing a photo of their father.
Zawab was captured by the Taliban on the Kabul-Jalalabad highway last year and held captive for over three months before his recent release.
His return has been met with joy by cultural activists and media advocates.
For decades, Ezatullah Zawab has been actively involved in literary and cultural pursuits in Nangarhar province, also operating his own publishing company to publish books.
