Erdogan: Afghanistan Is Key to Central Asia’s Stability  

Tawazon – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has described Afghanistan as a pivotal country for the stability of Central Asia, stressing the importance of peace, development, and security in the nation.

Addressing the 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit, in Azerbaijan, Erdogan emphasized that Türkiye supports security, peace and development in Afghanistan, calling the country an “important” regional partner.

In his speech, Erdogan also renewed criticism of Israel’s aggressive policies, which he said have intensified under its current leadership. “We cannot abandon the cause of Palestine, nor can we remain silent as Netanyahu’s government turns our region into a bloodbath,” he stated. Erdogan warned that Israel’s actions pose a serious threat to regional peace and security.

The 17th ECO Summit began on Friday, July 4, in the city of Khankendi, Azerbaijan, bringing together leaders from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Prime Minister of Pakistan. The summit, which will continue for three days, focuses on regional cooperation in the face of climate change.
