Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte Arrested on ICC Warrant
Manila – Reuters has reported that former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, 79, was arrested on Tuesday (March 11) at Manila’s international airport. According to sources, Duterte was taken into custody on charges of crimes against humanity related to his administration’s anti-drug campaign.
Duterte served as the President of the Philippines from 2016 to 2022. He faces allegations of orchestrating the extrajudicial killings of thousands of individuals in his controversial war on drugs.
The Philippine presidential office has confirmed his arrest.
Meanwhile, the International Criminal Court (ICC) has also proposed arrest warrants for several Taliban leaders and ministers, though no such orders have been officially issued yet.
