Dozens of fatalities reported in Ghor as floods hit the province
Local Taliban officials in Ghor province have reported that more than 50 individuals lost their lives in recent floods.
Abdul Wahid Hamas, spokesperson for the Ghor Governor, disclosed on Saturday, that the floods ravaged the province, resulting in the complete destruction of over 2,000 residential houses and 2,500 shops, with an additional 400 houses partially damaged.
Hamas noted that the floods, which wreaked havoc in Firozkoh city and various other areas including Du Layna, Tulak, Shahrak, and Marghab, inflicted significant personal and financial losses.
Affected families are now grappling with homelessness and food scarcity, as stated by the Taliban governor’s spokesperson.
These figures provided by the Taliban are preliminary and anticipated to rise further.
It is essential to remember that just in the recent weeks, floods in the northern provinces of the country, particularly in Baghlan province, resulted in heavy casualties, claiming the lives of over 300 individuals.
